Another Gun Related Tragedy

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A man opened fire with a rifle at a busy department store Wednesday, killing eight people in an attack that made holiday shoppers run screaming through a mall and barricade themselves in dressing rooms.
This is a sad, sad event. Let's take a moment to pray for the victims and their families.
Now I'm going to take an opportunity to get angry. We are going to hear the obligatory screeching from the anti-Second Amendment crowd as to why we should not be allowed to own handguns or carry them concealed.
But wait a minute... the shooter wasn't using a handgun, he was using a full automatic rifle.
Witnesses said the gunman sprayed fired [sic] down on shoppers from a third-floor balcony of the Von Maur store using what police said was an SKS assault rifle they found at the scene.
He sprayed fire. Currently this guy was in violation of federal law, making him a criminal. No new laws of any kind would have stopped this guy because, well... he didn't much care about what the laws were.
Police received a 911 call from someone inside the mall, and shots could be heard in the background, Negron said. By the time officers arrived six minutes later, the shooting was over, she said.
Give our men in blue credit. They got there as soon as they could. But when you have a group of unarmed sheep (or even amateur sheepdogs) facing a maniac with an automatic weapon, six minutes is forever. As good as our police are, the simple fact is, they cannot be everywhere.
This is why we, as citizens, need the option to carry concealed. When someone pops into a venue filled with people hoping to kill as many of them as they can, be they foreign terrorists, the homegrown variety, or depressed former McDonalds' employees, at least the law abiding citizen has a fighting chance to take them down before they can kill more people.
When are these liberals going to learn?
